Oregon Unemployment and SVN Economic Update

Oregon Unemployment Improves

Unemployment in Oregon continues to decline each month, moving us closer to pre-pandemic rates! With the state of Oregon requiring claimants to prove they are looking for work as of last week, end of enhanced benefits in September, and school resuming at the same time, we should be close to “back to normal” in the next few months.

Below is a chart showing unemployment rates for Metro counties as well as Oregon as a whole. Nationally unemployment is 5.9% for June so Oregon is recovering quicker than nationally. Of the three Metro counties, Washington County is almost to pre-pandemic rates with an unemployment rate of 4.9% in June.
